Realignment. mix
This painting has taken 4 months to complete – it is based on the last round of redundancies at work – we aren’t allowed to call it a restructure anymore, it’s a realignment. Anyway, it depicts the feelings of paranoia and discomfort that the process always causes. The central figure is reduced to a single cell to represent the feeling of smallness.
The painting process as well as the realignment process gave me migraines and made me feel sick! The design is based on an optical illusion and is deliberately hard to look at for a long time.
The lines are not perfect as I have an essential tremor, which makes it a difficult process, but each section is handpainted (acrylic on canvas) in several layers to build up an even finish. Original painting is 60×60cm
